Containerised HVO power plant for EDF

How do you supply electricity to a municipality that can only be reached by river? For EDF, AK-Architecture handled the design and 3D visualisation of a power plant running on HVO, a sustainable fuel produced from recycled vegetable oils, which replaces diesel without any engine modifications.
The entire plant is conceived in containers: generating sets, fuel storage, and technical and control rooms form standardised modules that are assembled on site. This choice addresses the heart of the problem for isolated sites such as Maripasoula: the modules are transported by pirogue and barge on the Maroni, are quickly installed, and the plant can be extended or relocated as needs change.
From the sketch stage, the design incorporated the industrial, regulatory and operational constraints of a classified facility. The 3D model served as a basis for dialogue between EDF, the operators and the local authorities.
